Believe it or not, I don't do too bad on a Cecelio soprano. You can find them all over e-bay I believe. I'm not saying its great, but it's done me fine for something like $350.

Definitely. I also believe there's viable sources from professionals that say they fall apart, too.

ALSO, I've experienced one personally, and it stunk. Mechanisms were poor, and it felt overall clunky. ALSO ALSO, I got my soprano new for under $500 about 5 years ago. Taiwanese brand, which are a tad bit more respectable than their neighbors across the East China Sea.

Bad experience with the Cecilio sax. My daughter received one as a "gift." It literally fell apart less than 2 months after she got it. Repair techs just shake their heads when they look at it. We have it sitting on a bookshelf now as an ornament, because that's all its good for!

I've had good luck with an E. M. Winston. They're about $1600 new, but used should be in your price range, if you can find one!
