Frustrated...(not really)Please help...Have a Vito alto sax. I'm

Please help...Have a Vito alto sax. I'm 55 years of age and can't read a lick of music. I don't get it. I love music and want to learn how to play the sax more then life itself. I want to play tenor but can't afford one now. Do I learn to play the alto or concentrate on doing everything I can to find a tenor? I tried a high school teacher but it just didnt feel right? Help. Suggestions please.
