Changing Needle Springs

Does anyone know how to remove and replace the needle spring on a Conn Shooting Star Alto. Should the springs be pulled off or should they be pushed in? Since the springs are tapered I was thinking you might be able to push them in and remove them. Anyone know?

    Push the spring back through the post. They are tapered and normally flattened on the end before insertion. It might pull through, but I advise aginst using too much force. Use a countersink punch and a small hammer lightly if it's stubborn.
