Springs and barbercue

Brasswinds are much simpler instruments than woodwinds. A statement of fact few here would disagree with, I'm sure. That's whay I love those little bamboo barbecue skewers. I've been using them for many years on my brasswinds. With these, you can safely guide a brass polishing cloth between valves and slides or just about anywhere else you need to go.

So, I picked up my sax the other day and, low and behold, during a chromatic scale my B key sounded a Bb. I took a look and found my bis key spring was out of its notch. What to do? Take it into the shop? It looked like a pretty simple fix. I got out one of my trusty bamboo skewers and used the round end to gently reseat my gold Norton spring. Problem solved.

Only other problem was, afterwards I suddenly had an uncontrollable urge for a shish kabob.
