Non-reaching spring

ON my school's Yamaha YBS-61 Bari, the spring in the octave key mechanism suddenly does not reach the spring receptor thing, what should I do?

    it might of broke off. let ur director know so he can send it in and get it fixed. good luck! Bariboy

      But in the meantime, to simulate the same action the spring had i put four light strength rubber bands onto the whole thing that triggers it. It works the same, but the rubber bands may snap.
