Turning a saxaphone blue

I have an old saxaphone that is n longer playable. In order to continue enjoying this instrument I am turning it into a decorative artpiece. Part of this requires tinting the bottom of the saxaphone blue. I have considered using alcohol inks but do not know if it would react badly to the saxaphone in any way. Does anyone have any ideas?
