Conn Shooting Star alto odd serial number

Hello:

New member here, I've had a Conn "Shooting Star" alto since the mid '70s that I bought used, serial number 999066, which appears to be after the 1962 numbers, but before switching to the letter-prefixed ones in 1963.

Wondering if anyone can provide some more insight into when/where it would have been made; the bell shows "Conn USA".

Never really cared what the model was before, as it's always played really well, but I gather there is quite a range of quality among these depending on when they were made.
