BUESCHER True Tone - Silver Plate (Serial Number: 234860) Back to model

This is a rare and highly sought-after Buescher "tip bell" soprano saxophone, serial number 234860. This soprano was made in 1927 and is the design often copied in later horns, with a bell tipped out slightly and the neck curved in towards the player.

This horn is in incredible condition. The original silver plating is over 99% intact. The only real wear spot is found on the right hand thumb rest as seen in the pictures. There is no wear to be found on the other touch points. There are no damages or past repairs, the sax is physically in perfect shape.

The horn was recently fully repadded by Saxquest's Duncan Bamsey in 2007, using the original snap-in metal domed resonators. It has a great comfortable feel under the fingers.

The one piece body with a curved neck design has been copied often, most successfully by Yamaha and P. Mauriat; but Buescher was the first. The sax has a very sweet rich sound and responds well in all registers.
