BUESCHER True Tone - Lacquer (Serial Number: 265275) Back to model

Here is an all original lacquer late vintage Buescher True Tone bari sax, serial number 265275. This horn dates all the way back to 1932, and is in outstanding physical condition. This instrument was manufactured after Buescher had retooled their factory production for the "New Aristocrat" saxophones and just after the introduction of cellulose lacquer. However, the "New Aristocrat" model was only produced in alto and tenor and Buescher never did gear up production for a New Aristocrat bari. So, this instrument is identical to any other late vintage Buescher True Tone bari.

The sax is in outstanding condition. There are no major dents anywhere, and just a few minor pings that do not affect the way it plays at all. The original lacquer is over 95% intact with no major wear of note, just the usual kind of scratches that come over time. The bottom bow has never taken a hit, the bell flare has never been creased. The Buescher baris were built like tanks and usually stand up to the test of time.

The sax still has most of the original Buescher metal snap-in resonators. It was checked over by George Bunk, Saxquest's top sax guru, and is in excellent playing condition. If you've played a vintage Buescher alto or tenor, then you know how resonant these instruments are. Imagine that resonance on a bari! This beast really seems to come alive under your fingers. It has a rich warm sound, and plays with very little resistance. The bottom end is especially powerful. It is a fantastic vintage horn.
