BUESCHER Aristocrat Series I - Gold Plate (Serial Number: 273489) Back to model

This is an extremely rare Buescher Aristocrat alto sax in gold plate, serial number 273489. This is the only gold plated Aristocrat alto we’ve seen (or even heard of!). It was given the full treatment, recieving a Saxquest pad job and set up by saxophone technician Duncan Bamsey.  He padded this instrument right, using the original Buescher snap-in metal resonators.  It has been set up with a medium-light key tension and a medium key height.

The horn looks incredible. The matte gold finish stands at 95%, with really no major wear of note. There are no dents or dings anywhere on the horn. There are just a couple resoldered joints on key guards, all of which were done extremely well. The sax comes with the original brown-gold rollers, and the original gold plated Norton springs. It goes without saying that it has the original “01” neck, and comes in the original case which is in great overall condition.

This horn has a slightly spread characteristic, and while gold plating tends to darken the sound, this particular horn defies that tradition and remains brighter. It is a real sweet player.
