C.G. CONN "Portrait - Lady" (Serial Number: 164896) Back to model

Here is an extremely nice gold plated C.G. Conn Chu Berry "Portrait" model alto sax, serial number 164896. This alto is in breathtakingly nice condition, and was fully overhauled in 2004.

The original gold plate is over 99% intact, with just minor wear on a couple touch points. It is as close to perfect as you'll ever find. There are no dents or dings, and no resoldered joints anywhere on the horn. It does have rolled tone holes which have never been filed down. The engraving on this alto is just gorgeous - the artisans at Conn were masters in their art.

The horn was repadded by Saxquest's Duncan Bamsey, using top grade professional pads and brass Resotech flat metal resonators. It has been fully adjusted and is in top playing condition.

If you are looking for the sweet vintage Conn sound, a horn of this vintage would be what you want. It plays with an extremely warm "velvety" sound, with a very fast response. It has a slightly more spread sound than what you find on most modern horns, allowing you to bend and shape notes much more easily.
