This is a real find - a near mint condition Selmer Large Bore Super alto saxophone, serial number 10656. This is technically still a Modele 28, although only the very early saxes of this model were stamped as such. This alto looks incredible, 99% original gold plating intact and only minor finish wear on a couple touch points. Better yet it plays like a dream with a robust warm sound and a little more spread than some of the Selmer models that followed in later years.

It is quite obvious this horn has been treated with kid gloves all of its life. There are no dents or dings anywhere, and no signs of any previous repairs, including resoldered joints. The neck is original and in perfect condition. Saxquest overhauled this sax in 2008 using treated Valentino pads, with Reso-Tech flat metal resonators.

This alto is a real joy to play, an even tone in all registers and a nice darker timbre. It plays very freely with little resistance, yet you can really push it too.
