Micing Bari for Effect Pedals

My uni band is doing a cover of Snarky Puppy's "What About Me", and we were discussing using a bari with a -8ve & crunch pedal to add a different tone colour into the mix.

My question is: Which mic would be best suited for this without also picking up and affecting all the sound coming from the rest of the stage?

I've heard some things about piezo mics that are drilled into the mouthpiece, and I'm willing to sacrifice a mouthpiece for a permanent mic as I'd almost definetly end up using it at a later date. My only concern would be that the mic placement would probably lend itself to a natural low cut (?), and if so to what extent?
