Armstrong 3000 questions

Hi everybody, 
I was given an Armstrong 3000 Alto Made in USA  Elkhart
I realize that it has little commercial value but it plays.   
I'm a fan of American made horns.   Provenence is always a detective game though. 

I can't find a useful serial # database for it  Serial # 10159
It appears to be in its original case, plastic with an aluminum frame. Red plush interior 

Anyone have an idea how old it is and who made it?   
My guess is 80s  and Conn as part of UMI
