    Not that big of a difference. Silver plated will tarnish. If you like what your playing on now I'd stick with it, getting something different is risky I guess.

      something different is risky? if everybody thought that we would still be hitting logs together. but anyway, you can change how you sound easier than buying a new horn (mouthpiece, reeds, ect)

        Some believe that silver laquer polishes the tone, though I've never seen it proven.

          the finish really doesnt change much, except silver/gold plated horns are sold for more. whats with bringing up the old posts?
