Carved? You mean refaced? What's wrong with it as it is?

Personally, I would just get a new mouthpiece. You might like a Dukoff or Vandoren Jumbo Java, or perhaps a metal Beechler Bellite, among others, all of which can be purchased used for not much more than a quality reworking (which will probably be well over $100, depending on just what you need done). If you're bent on staying with this mouthpiece, though, I would contact Keith Bradbury, a.k.a. MojoBari (www.geocities.com/kwbradbury). Do you play soprano, alto, tenor, or bari, and would you be open to trying other mouthpieces?

You sound like a friend of mine :-) He's tried out SO many mouthpieces. His main goal in life is to cut through everyone else on the marching band. It's...an interesting goal. Each to his own I guess.
