C.G. CONN New Wonder - Virtuoso Deluxe (1918-1929)

The Virtuoso Deluxe model saxophones exemplify the exquisite beauty of the early 1920's Conn saxophones. These were the most eloborate Conn saxophones ever made with extravagant engraving and full pearl touches. Virtuoso Deluxe model saxophones were special order only and were produced throughout Conn's "golden era", designated as finish 000.

Virtuoso Deluxe saxophones were hand engraved from head to toe using the fine "push cut" engraving style featuring ornately detailed patterns and scenes. The Conn engravers of this period were artists in the true sense of the name and it was these special order saxophones which showcased their true artistic creativity.

The Conn "Virtuoso Deluxe Model" saxophones are quite rare and are indeed a treasured piece in any saxophone collection. To add to their already ornate style, these saxophones were also inlayed with finely cut mother of pearl on all of the touch pieces (palm keys, right hand side keys, table keys, alternate F# key, low C and Eb keys, and the octave key). While most were completely burnished gold plate throughout, some also had silver plate inlay in the engraving. The most exquisite examples also had engraved key cups. There were also a few rare examples where the instrument was ordered in matte finish or in silver plate finish as opposed to burnished gold plate.
